NJHS Canned Food Drive

News and Announcements

Did you know there are 1.1 million food insecure children in Florida? Did you know in Polk County alone, there are 32,430 children who don’t know where their next meal will come from?
Our NJHS students want to decrease that number for the holidays! Monday, November 7th, we’re kicking off a food drive campaign to support our local neighborhood & community, The Dream Center.
@dreamcenterlkld, located at 635 W 5th St., is a neighborhood outreach center that provides resources and help to those in need. This Thanksgiving, we don’t want any family to go hungry or without, so our campaign is designed to bring those unopened, non-expired, non-perishable items to donate to their food pantry so the neighborhood families can have a place to get food.
Starting Monday Nov 7th, bring in any and all canned food or dry good items to your homeroom class. Our NJHS students will come around to collect items each morning, through Nov. 18th.
The elementary homeroom and middle school homeroom with the highest number of items by the campaign’s end will receive a PIZZA PARTY!
Our goal is to donate at least 1,000 items to the Dream Center! Let’s make it happen, Rochelle! #dreamcenterlkld
